Instructions:

Hoop 1 layer of Heavy Weight Cut Away Stabilizer with the front journal cover fabric (Solid Purple Polka Dot – 6.5” X 11”) in the large oval hoop, using Temporary Adhesive spray. Stitch design #12535-19, using #0015 OESD embroidery thread.  Insert the word journal from built in font from your embroidery machine.  When embroidery is finished unhoop.

Piece the embroidered journal front cover to the 10.5” x 11” Multi Polka Dot journal back fabric using a 1/2" seam allowance.  Press seam open.  This is now the journal front.

Spray the batting with Temporary Adhesive spray, and adhere to journal front.  Using an edge stitching foot, sew a decorative stitch down the seam on journal front.

Add a decorative ribbon to journal front using an edge stitching foot.

Be sure to sew both sides of the ribbon.

On the back of the journal cover quilt the Multi Polka Dot fabric.  I randomly tried out decorative stitches that were open in design as opposed to a satin decorative stitch.  Trim Journal front to 10” x 16 1/2".

Fold your book flap wrong sides together.  They should now measure 5” x 11”.  Press.

Lay the Journal cover with batting down right side up.  Place the flaps on each side - raw edges out.  Lay lining right side down over Journal front and flaps.  Pin together and sew around the entire edge using a 1/4" seam allowance, leaving a small opening at the bottom to turn inside out.

Trim corners and turn inside out.  Press well.  Close the opening by hand whipping or use sewing machine to close the edge.  Insert Composition Book.

Enjoy!
